Barnacle Spectacular

Posted by admin - October 25th, 2009

Three days over on the Solway Coast to see the Geese was mindblowing to say the least up to 20,000 at Caerlaverock WWT and 12,500 Barnacle and 2,500 Pinkfoot at RSPB Mershead. One thing for sure is they dont like the RAF doing low flying!! a real site to see and hear when they lift I managed a few distant photo’s as you can see.

All on Holls

It must be that time of year when everyone goes on holiday!!our friends from Seaton Sluice “Sid and Lil” are down in York for a week with “Alice” (thats the motorhome folks) celebrating Sids birthday, too many numbers for me to remember! I think Sid parked “Alice”in a pub because they are always in one when they ring.
Tom and Jean are away in Majorca with the Grandchildren and dad Paul for a week,he must have felt he needed a holiday after sorting out our computers and installing my new program !!. Ta Mot.
Also Neil Kerry,Caitlin and Jake are on two weeks holiday in Florida ,however they managed to leave 5 yes 5 members of there family behind Molly,Polly,Dolly ,Holly and Wally in the care of Mam and Dad. (My these little Pigs can’t arf shift some stuff !!).

Lots to report

Posted by admin - March 26th, 2009

Where to start well lets see,Bruce and Pattie are back from Australia and had a great time visiting Pattie’s family and getting smashing weather into the bargain, lots of photo’s with some rather nice ones of the local wildlife. Sid and Lil celebrated Lils 70 th at the Gosforth Park Hotel in the Ascot suite with good numbers of close friends there to wish her Happy Birthday and enjoy a great slap-up meal( yum-yum ) had to take a “provi”out for my bar tab tho and am still trying to catch me moths !.

My mate MOT had to do a re installation on yours truly’s computer which was rather hard going in fact him and Jean needed a holiday in Majorca to recover ,we collected them from the airport and said they had good weather and enjoyed the short break, that what its all about guys. This holiday business must be catching because Ang and Dan went off yesterday for a week in Lanzarote leaving us two to look after OTIS otis.gif

(thats the Guinea pig) they left strict instructions on what and when to feed him ,exercise him ,and clean his dirty corner out every day.Carol and I are going to need a hol after this lot,in fact we are going over to Leighton Moss for a bit of walking and birding next week.

Spring Hols

When the bulbs start flowering that’s the time to crank up the motorhome and get away for one of our short breaks which is just what we did last week, down the A19 into North Yorkshire stopping off just out of Osmotherly at Cod Beck for a short walk around Cod Beck Reservoir then back to the motorhome for a late lunch. Finally a short walk up the beck then off to the site to get parked up and settled for the night simple eh !. Arriving at the site there was nobody in so we decided to make ourselves at home and park up on the first pitch inspecting the ground as we do, swung the motorhome round to reverse onto the pitch halfway back I stopped (God knows why) but I ended up stuck and going no-where as you can see.

The last pic is showing yours truly delving into his wallet to pay the local farmer for his services ( o me moths !).Putting all that behind us the rest of the week was spent walking (climbing) Roseberry Topping ,the Capt Cook Monument, and spending a day with Aunty Glad.

Finally on the last day (fri) we had a look around Thirsk before making a short journey down to the Oaks fishery at Sessay to watch No 1 son having a practice session before fishing the big match on Sunday ( the smile says it all ).Sunday saw a section win with 45lb of fish. (Well done)

Yes he’s on the mend now from what we have been hearing,he was caught with his pants down and displaying his ………the other day by his good lady (gosh i hope they put them back in the right places??).However he seams quite nimble after his new hip (both sides done now) he.s nearly bionic, keep up the good work old lad and you will soon be out and about.

Autumn Break

Posted by admin - November 2nd, 2008

Four days away at Kielder for our autumn break went down really well, three days of sunshine and one day confined to the motor-home with heavy rain and it was a little cold at times too.Lots of changes taking place especially on the path around the lake with another section opened just in time for us to explore, taking us from Leaplish to Kielder village along the lake shore and over the new feature bridge at Lewis Burn (see pics ) a nice steady bike ride of about 6 or so miles.Top spot for the break has to go to the Red squirrels great entertainment up to five at a time coming to the feeding station some of which are quite bad tempered showing there disgust when not able to get on the feeders. The local birds were all looking in good condition even the black and white Crow but you have to look hard (more pics).
